Dear Patrick,

Hello. You probably don’t know me, but you may have heard of me. My name is Liam McCarthy, and I am running in the local council elections in May.

I’m writing to ask you to vote for me. You will notice that this is not just a general circular letter, but is in fact handwritten by me, to you, Patrick. Patrick? Are you Irish? My father was Irish. Well, he still is Irish.

I’m not standing for any particular party, I’m an independent. So, as you can imagine, I don’t have endless money to send leaflets to everyone in the borough! So I’ve been through the phone book, and I’m writing to individuals to ask them to vote for me. That’s where you come in Patrick!

But why should you vote for me, Patrick? Well, for a start, have you noticed how much busier the roads are compared to ten years ago? So have I.

I will also campaign to get a guard dog for the village shop in Weppley.

If you have any questions, best keep them to yourself!

Remember, Patrick, vote for me, Patrick!

Top o’ the morning!
